In Samsun, two families needed to live separately on the same plot. Resolving the mass as a single block would have compromised the view and privacy of both homes. Instead we offset the two volumes against each other: each villa gains its own garden façade and entrance, while the shared wall lines up with service spaces to minimize acoustic transfer. Mass optimization based on slope and solar orientation directly shaped the asymmetric façade — the form is not an aesthetic choice, it is the result of the inputs.

Project status

In this Trabzon project, hotel guests and café customers share the same building but shouldn't share the same experience. The solution was to physically separate the two circulation lines while preserving visual continuity: café visitors reach their own entrance without passing through the hotel reception, while both volumes speak the same material language. The proportion of brutalist concrete to warm timber tells you which space you're in without needing a sign. Staff service flow runs behind both lines, out of guests' sight.

Because design and construction sat with the same team on this project, every decision in the detail design had a known, pre-agreed counterpart on site. The façade's solid-void proportion wasn't just a composition choice — since it was worked out together with the formwork plan and construction sequence, it required no revisions on site. We ran quantity and progress-payment control weekly, tying subcontractor sequencing directly to the project calendar. Being a single point of contact from spatial planning to turnkey handover removed the classic loss that happens when "the architect draws, the contractor interprets."

Permit status

Educational buildings are held to a far stricter regulatory set than residential or commercial ones: egress distances, stair widths, daylight ratios and child-scale requirements shape the design from the very first sketch. On this project we treated permit requirements as an input to the first sketch, not a post-design checklist. Municipal and regulatory approvals, including coordination across engineering disciplines, were completed in full — without a single filing-revision cycle.
