Let's shape your space program together for your projectThis total is only the net m² of living spaces — corridors, wall thickness and shared areas are not included; it does not replace an actual space program. Source:Minimum m² for bedrooms and living rooms.
How is a home's net area requirement calculated?
A home's total net area requirement depends on how many rooms it contains and the accepted minimum/comfortable m² range for each room type. This tool uses the table from our article on minimum m² for rooms and living spaces to calculate the total net area — as both a minimum and a comfortable figure — for the room counts you select.
A living room is assessed at 12-28 m², a primary bedroom at 12-18 m², a child's/guest bedroom at 9-14 m², a kitchen at 4-14 m², a bathroom at 3.3-8 m², and a WC at 1.2-2.5 m²; a counter next to each room type lets you set how many you want.
The difference between minimum and comfortable
Minimum values are the smallest dimensions a room needs to function; the comfortable range describes sizes that feel spacious in daily use, leaving room for furniture and circulation. Both ends of the total are shown so you can compare two budget or plot scenarios.
These figures come from a general reference table — actual room sizes will vary with household size, furniture layout and personal preference.
What this doesn't cover
This total is strictly the net m² of living spaces — it excludes corridors, wall thickness, stair voids and shared areas, and it is not a substitute for an actual architectural space program (a building's gross area typically runs about 1.2-1.4 times its net area).
In an initial consultation, MEEZ Mimarlık builds a real space program around your lifestyle — starting from numbers like the ones you've just tried, we shape a clear plan that fits your plot and budget.
